I hear this from almost everyone who books. It is completely normal. I think over the years I've been doing this, I've only had two people say to me they actually like having their photo taken. I hear this from almost everyone who books.
Most people feel awkward in front of the camera. My job isn’t just to take photos, it’s to make you feel comfortable. I’ll guide you the whole way through, give you direction when you need it, and keep things relaxed. and thankfully, the feedback I get is mostly that I do manage to make people feel comfortable and relaxed (which makes me very happy!).
I'll be guiding you through the whole thing, so please don't worry!
Your images will be delivered via an online gallery, and you'll receive an email with a link to view it once your pictures are ready.
Turnaround times vary slightly depending on the type of shoot, but I’ll always give you a clear timeframe when you book.
The gallery will stay online for about two weeks, to give you enough time to go through your pictures and choose the ones you want to keep. After that, the gallery is taken down to make space for the next clients (but don't worry, you'll get some warning before it's taken down!).
If you’ve booked a brand or business shoot — absolutely. That’s what they’re for and the license to use your images for this is included in the price of the shoot.
Family and boudoir images are for personal use unless otherwise agreed. If you’d like to use any images for promotional purposes, just let me know and we can discuss licensing.
I may share selected images on my website or social media, as it’s how I show my work (and seeing these images is probably why you are on this website in the first place).
But I only share images that I have received permission to share.
My online booking system and pre-shoot questionnaires do include a question about this so you can let me know your preference. But if in any doubt, please do just speak to me about it. If you’d prefer your images not to be shared, just say - no awkwardness, no pressure.
If we’re planning an outdoor session and the weather isn’t playing ball, we’ll reschedule if we need to. No one wants soggy hair and grumpy children (or soggy business owners).
Every week, I start off by checking the weather forecast for the shoots I have coming up, and if the weather looks like it might cause problems, I'll be in touch to discuss our options.
The short answer? It varies, and it's best to chat with me about your requirements so I can see what spaces I have available.
I do work weekends, but naturally, these are in high demand for family photoshoots with children at school during the week, and many parents working Monday to Friday, so weekend photoshoots often get booked up weeks in advance. It's also worth being aware that my busiest time of year is September to December, as people often like to get photos done in time for Christmas, so it's best to contact me nice and early if you're looking to get something arranged for a weekend in the lead up to December.
Weekdays are understandably quieter (and there are a lot more of them) so don't get booked quite so far in advance. I can often squeeze something in last minute on a weekday if my editing queue isn't too big!
